Nathaniel "Buddy" Billings

MATOAKA – Nathaniel “Buddy” Billings, 74 of Matoaka died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at his home. Born June 22, 1944 at Springton he was the son of the late Burette and Oma Tilly Billings. He was a retired coal miner and member of UMWA. He was a member of Hiawatha Gospel Mission Church which he pastored for a few years. He loved the Lord with his whole heart and wanted his family to love Him too. There is an empty space here but God has a place all ready for him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Buster Billings and wife Bonnie and Raymond Billings; four sisters, Delta Billings, Velvie Boyles and husband Clyde, Flora Mann and husband Bud and Roberta Hartwell and husband Michael; two nephews, David Boyles and Jackie Billings and one great nephew, Austin Boyles. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara Pennington Billings; daughters, Lori Agnew and husband Ricky, Karen Hurst and Kelly Lyle and husband Timmy; granddaughters, Gabrielle Begovich and Ashley and Paige Billings; grandsons, Robby Samosky, Ryan Samosky, Jonah Lyle, Samuel Lyle and Levi Lyle; one great grandson, Ethan Begovich; one great granddaughter, Bexley Begovich; sisters, Ellen Sadler and husband John, Colena Agnew and husband Richard; one sister-in-law, Thelma Billings; many nieces and nephews who meant a lot to him and also his wife’s siblings who looked to him as their” man in charge” which he loved. The family thanks the staff of Amedisys Hospice that took wonderful care of him, Dr. Bowman, Deloris, Shawna, Charles, Kim, C. T. and Dr. Todd Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kelly Lyle officiating. Interment will follow at the Billings Family Cemetery at Hiawatha. Pallbearers will be Robby Samosky, Ryan Samosky, Jonah Lyle, Ethan Begovich, Timmy Lyle and Shawn Basham. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Lyle and Levi Lyle. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 5 at the funeral home.
