Julius Meadows

CAMP CREEK- Julius Carl Meadows, 81, of Camp Creek went to be with our Lord, surrounded by his family at home on Friday, October 14, 2011. Born October 31, 1929 at Dott, he was the son of the late Lacy Meadows and Lakie Lilly Meadows. Julius was of the Baptist faith and was a retired coal miner with Slab Coal Company in Alpoca. He was drafted in 1951 by the U. S. Army and served most of his time in Bamburg, Germany escorting and transporting wartime criminals during the Korean conflict. He served our great country with pride and honor. His truth, honesty and love touched many lives in many wonderful ways during his life. Julius had a quick wit and a special quality to make and bring laughter in an unintentional way. He will be missed very much, but remembered with many smiles and much laughter. He was the last of nine siblings who will forever be greatly missed. A loving father and grandfather, his entire life focus was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers, James Meadows, Gene Meadows, Ralph Joe Meadows, Holly B. Meadows, David Meadows, Danny Meadows, Tracy Meadows and Lacy C. Meadows. He is survived by his wife of 55 ½ years, Wilma A. Skelton Meadows; three sons, Dennis Meadows and wife Zelda of Lashmeet, Nelson Meadows and wife Elizabeth of Shady Spring and John Meadows and his wife Jean of Princeton; one precious daughter, Rita Melko and husband Ron of Newburgh, Indiana; the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Shane Meadows and wife Missy of Flat Top, Shannon Meadows of Lashmeet, Tammy Meadows of Lashmeet, Erin Warden and husband Matt of Beckley, Lanny Meadows of Beckley and Kaila Hall of Princeton; great grandchildren, Logan Meadows of Princeton, Brent Meadows of Flat Top, Baylee Meadows of Princeton, Mason Meadows of Flat Top, Lexi Warden of Beckley and Kaise Warden of Beckley, all who were his rays of sunshine; four sisters-in-law, Lola Meadows of Canvas, Geraldine Meadows of Amherst, Virginia, Carolyn Meadows of Wolf Creek and Burnadine Meadows of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Ralph Calfee officiating. Interment will follow at Meadows-Maxey Cemetery at Camp Creek where military graveside honors will be conducted by the West Virginia National Guard honor guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Meadows, Shannon Meadows, Lanny Meadows, Matt Warden, Jerry Pugalee and Richard Godfrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Mack Worrell, Glennen Stovall and Ronnie Hurt. Friends may visit from 1:00 pm. until the service hour on Sunday, October 16 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer County Animal Shelter.
