Harvey Tibbs,

PRINCETON – Harvey Kent (Jack) Tibbs, Sr., 85, of Princeton, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born July 1, 1927 at Portsmouth, OH, he was the son of the late Herbert Kent Tibbs and Daisy Hearn Tibbs. Mr. Tibbs was a graduate of Welch High School and received his B.S. degree from Concord College where he was a member of Blue Key National Honor Fraternity. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had been a resident of Princeton for 34 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member and served on many church committees. He was a public accountant in Princeton and was a comptroller at Princeton Bank and Trust for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Choate. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Hendricks Tibbs of Princeton; two sons, Harvey K. Tibbs, Jr. and his wife Jennie of New Windsor, NY and Alan Tibbs and his wife Katie of Princeton; one sister, Betty Hagenrater of Princeton and Bob Tibbs and his wife Diane of War; and four grandchildren, William Tibbs, Sara Tibbs, Ellie Tibbs and Shelby Tibbs. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Entombment will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton. Friends and men of the church will serve as pallbearers. Friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home by 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1116 Mercer St., Princeton, WV 24740 or the charity of one's choice.
