Freddy Howell

KEGLEY- Freddy Glen Howell, 80, of Kegley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 10, 2026 following a long illness with his son and loving wife by his side. Born August 29, 1945, in Princeton, he was the son the late Jessee and Ruby Wimmer Howell. A lifelong resident of the area. Freddy was a 1963 graduate of Princeton High School. As a man with a heart of gold, he was always there to help others in need and was the neighborhood handy man. Whether it was home and auto repairs or clearing driveways after a snowstorm, you could always count on him to be there. Freddy loved his country and served in the WV Army National Guard. Freddy was employed by Norfolk and Western Railroads (N&S) for over 35 years. He was a successful auto body man who painted, repaired, and restored numerous vehicles for people in the area. He was a man of great faith. He was a member of Rock Assembly of God where he enjoyed serving and sharing his musical talents of playing the banjo while his wife accompanied him in song. He was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Perhaps, most notable, was his 60-year marriage to his loving wife, Nancy. Their union was so special to all who knew them, as it was a beautiful embodiment of true love. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie Howell, and Benny Howell; and his sister, Edna Mae Martin. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Freddy Howell Jr. of Kegley; his daughter, Kimberly Howell Hamm of Princeton; one granddaughter who was his pride and joy, Dulcie; one niece Donna Howell Beane; and one nephew, Gary Howell. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Hospice Amedisys; especially Nurse Faith Tarter for the wonderful care that Freddy received. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home with Pastor Vivian Sloan, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Arrangements by Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
