Bonnie Billings

PRINCETON, WV - “Mommy is walking the streets of gold”. Bonnie Mae Billings, 88, of Princeton, WV, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born June 2, 1926 in Springton, WV she was the daughter of the late W.P. Lester and Myrtle Alice Elswick Lester. Bonnie was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Matoaka Christian Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed volunteering at several local nursing homes and visited many people while they were in the hospital. She was known for her good cooking and delicious biscuits. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Burett Billings; one son, Jackie Lewis Billings; four brothers, Thomas Lester, Jerry Lester, Paul Lester and Johnny Lester; and five sisters, Nora Tiller, Thelma Shrewsbury, Catherine Lester, Mary Tiller and Nanny Lester. Survivors include one daughter, Vera Lena Gillespie and her husband Dwight of Princeton, WV; three grandchildren, Michelle Marlene Miller and her husband Steve of Bluefield, WV, “favorite grandson” Benjamin Dwight Gillespie and his wife Angie of Princeton, WV and Holly Beth Martin and her husband Adam of Washington, DC; five great-grandchildren, Mary Beth Miller of Bluefield, WV, Savannah Hope Gillespie of Princeton, WV, Steven Miller, Jr. of Bluefield, WV, Jackson Scott Martin and Isaac Cole Martin both of Washington, DC; one great, great-grandson, Markus Lewis James Miller of Bluefield, WV; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Matoaka Christian Church with the Rev. Craig Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Dwight Gillespie, Benjamin Gillespie, Steve Miller, Steven Miller, Jr., Adam Martin and Jerry Billings. Honorary pallbearer will be Savannah Hope Gillespie. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton and on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church.
