PRINCETON – Virgie Holmes, 96, of Princeton, died Sunday, June 6, 2021. Born June 6, 1925 in McComas, she was the daughter of the late Albert Davis and Willie Margaret Adams Davis. Mrs. Holmes was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Princeton and the Parkview CEOS Club. She was the last living member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Nelson Holmes; brothers, Buster Davis, Dan Davis, Bill Davis, Oakley Davis, Clarence Davis, Alfred Davis, J.C. Sweeney and Arthur Davis; and sisters, Gladys Dishner, Nellie McKinney, Ruth Gillenwater, Ethel Gordon, Sovena Tiller and Gertrude Honaker. Survivors include son, Jim Holmes and wife Jan of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Sarah Lewis and Christopher Holmes both of Rhode Island; great grandson, Tanner Lewis; and caregivers, Jennie Harbour, Teresa Hughes and Amy Sparks. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. Dan Jividen officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
