    Samuel William Taylor

    October 28, 1932 - February 21, 2019

    MATOAKA – Samuel William Taylor, 86, of Matoaka, died Thursday, February 21, 2019. Born October 28, 1932 at McComas, he was the son of the late James Taylor and Veda Lusk Taylor. Mr. Taylor was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired coal miner and member of UMWA. He loved spending time with his family and riding his golf cart in the neighborhood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Wesley, Basil, Frankie and Jackie Taylor; sisters, Esther Lilly, Marie Lilly, Georgie Hall and Myrtle Bennett. Survivors include his wife, Betty Kilby Taylor; children, Mamie Ann Taylor of Princeton, Teresa East and husband Darrell of Martinsville, VA, Teena Testa and husband Joe of Princeton, Mark Taylor of Princeton, Roger Taylor and wife June of Matoaka and Melena French of Princeton; sisters, Margaret McKinney of Matoaka and Geraldine Turner of Princeton; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and special friends Bonita Hubbard and Ronnie French. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Margaret Holt officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
