PRINCETON – James “Jimmy” Phillips, 78, of Princeton, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Born November 16, 1941 at Widemouth, he was the son of the late Raymond Phillips and Pauline Clark Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Gail Stamper, Sue Young, Darla Reed, Annie Burnett and Sharon Wood; and two brothers, Curtney Phillips and Joe Phillips. Jimmy was a retired construction worker. He was a member of Fairview Christian Community Church in Princeton where he sang in the Gospel Lights group, was a Sunday School teacher, assistant Sunday School superintendent and usher. He received awards for perfect attendance. He loved bluegrass music and was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers, New York Yankees and New York Jets. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis Bowling Phillips; daughter, Teresa Phillips of Princeton; one sister, Lou Wert and husband David of Princeton; one brother, Ronald Phillips of Roanoke, VA; two grandsons, Jordon Farmer and wife Kristie of Bluefield and Jared Farmer and wife Autumn of Bluefield; three great grandchildren, Traiven Farmer, JoAnna Farmer and Jazilyn Farmer.
