Elizabeth "Ellen" Shrewsbury

ROCK – Elizabeth “Ellen” Shrewsbury, 72, of Rock, died Saturday, January 25, 2020. Born April 5, 1947 in Slab Fork, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie “Eddieco” Shrewsbury and Lena Bailey Shrewsbury. Ellen was retired from Mercer County Schools where she served as a teachers aid at Princeton Senior High School working with special needs students in the greenhouse. She served as a school bus aid and cared very much about all of “her kids.” She was a member of Rich Creek Baptist Church and was a member of the Sonshine Ladies where she enjoyed quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Florence Thompson. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Connie Shrewsbury; children, Earnie and wife Melissa of Beeson, Darryl and wife Lisa of Stafford, VA, Becky Porterfield and husband John of Princeton and Alvin and wife Jenny of Lerona; sisters, Viola Wiblin of Romney, Eva Hubbard and Polly Rose both of Princeton and Claudia Shrewsbury of Beeson; brother, Ralph Shrewsbury and wife Judy of Beeson; grandchildren, Noelani Shrewsbury, E.J. Shrewsbury, Alyssa Clark, Shayla Miller, Jordan Shrewsbury, Ryan Shrewsbury, Devin Shrewsbury and Ariella Lowe; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Canyon, Lance and Aiden. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Jamie Mattox and Rev. Ralph Calfee officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday, January 31, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
