Danny Sparks Sr.

LASHMEET – Danny Wayne “Sparky” Sparks, Sr., 66, of Lashmeet, died Sunday, August 9, 2020. Born May 18, 1954 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Charles Roby Sparks and Beulah Grace Dicken Sparks. Mr. Sparks attended Matoaka Elementary and High School. He worked at West Virginia Division of Highways as a TW2 equipment operator for 16 years. He was of the Christian faith. He never met a stranger, always greeted you with his big, beautiful smile and made everyone laugh. He enjoyed fishing with his only son, camping, sitting by the fire, washing and waxing his truck and spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edward “Eugene” Sparks, Robert Sparks, Eddie Sparks, Roy Sparks and Johnny Mike Sparks; half-brother, Donald Smith; sisters, Joan Paciona; infant sister, Linda Sparks; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Vestal and Lela Coomes. Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Sparks; son, Danny Sparks and wife Angie of Lashmeet; granddaughters, Ashleigh and Emilee Sparks of Lashmeet; brothers, Charles Sparks and wife Emma of Powhaton, VA and Richard Sparks and wife Darlene of Lashmeet; sister, Carol Floyd and husband Larry of Delaware City, DE; sister-in-law, Cathy Midkiff of Princeton; brother-in-law, Jasper “Harold” Walker and wife Janet of Lashmeet; numerous nieces and nephews; and everyone who knew him. Serving as pallbearers will be Vernon Sparks, Roy Sparks Jr., Timmy Sparks, Matt Reed, Wyatt Reed and Jeff Coomes. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Walker, James Baldwin and Neal Vestal. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Entombment will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton. The family will receive friends Friday, August 14, 2020 from noon until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
