Roxanne Bourne

BLUEFIELD - Surrounded by family and friends, Betty Jean Roxanne Bourne, 61, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Charleston, West Virginia due to complications from cancer. Born June 2, 1955 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ronnie and Lillie Mae Brooks. Roxanne had a strong faith, and was a charter member of Maple View Church of Christ. She was devoted to her family and friends, being kind and considerate, and displaying a goodness to others that is rarely seen. She looked for the good in people, and was quick to share a smile or laugh with those around her. Roxanne loved music of all kinds, but especially Beach and Gospel music. Roxanne was a favorite performer in the Bluefield Chicory Square Concert Series for many years. She worked for Norfolk-Southern railroad for 41 years, retiring as the Office Manager for the Pocahontas Division Superintendent’s office. She cherished the friendship of her co-workers in that office, whom she referred to as “my girls.” Roxanne also served as a team captain for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life for many years. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jamie Roxanne Bourne. Survivors include her loving husband, Rick Bourne; her son, Jeremy Bourne and wife Christina of Bluefield, WV; two sisters, Rhonda Sisk of Lebanon, VA and Robin Brooks of Princeton, WV; mother-in-law Lillian Bourne; numerous nephews and nieces; and many special friends. Services to celebrate the life of Roxanne will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Maple View Church of Christ, Mall Road, Bluefield, with the Reverend Tony Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Bourne, Brandon Sisk, Chase Sisk, Chester May, Buddy Gilpin, and Josh Szakacs. Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Perdue, A.J. Proffit, Terry Hubbard and Trina Fleshman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Maple View Church of Christ.
