Ronald W. Brooks

Ronald W. Brooks, 80, of Princeton died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born September 4, 1934 at Bluefield he was the son of the late Ivory Whitten Brooks and Alma Williams Brooks. He was a veteran of the West Virginia National Guard, former member of the Board of Directors of the Green Valley-Glenwood Public Service District and member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Mountaineer Lanes in Bluefield for many years. Mr. Brooks was a charter member of Maple View Church of Christ in Bluefield where he enjoyed singing in the choir and was honored to have donated the land where the church was built. Prior to his retirement 1987 from Norfolk Southern Railway, he was Supervisor of Material Management in Roanoke, VA. He was an avid West Virginia University sports fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Lillie Mae Massie Brooks in 2013 and one granddaughter Jamie Bourne. Survivors include three daughters, Roxanne Bourne and husband Rick of Bluefield, Rhonda Sisk of Lebanon, VA and Robin Brooks of Princeton; three grandsons, Jeremy Bourne and wife Christina of Bluefield and Brandon and Chase Sisk of Lebanon, VA; one sister, Linda Brooks of Richmond, VA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Jean Lawrence and Marie and Tony Constantino all of Bluefield; special aunt, Cora Steele of Princeton; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver, Alice Mathena. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Maple View Church of Christ, Mercer Mall Road, Bluefield with Rev. Tony Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Pallbearers will be Rick Bourne, Jeremy Bourne, Brandon Sisk, Chase Sisk, Buddy Gilpin and Tony Constantino; honorary pallbearers will be Will Lawrence, Curtis Seets, John Lawrence, Bud Yost, Chester May, Sonny Wiley and Danny Burton. In lieu of flowers please bring a covered dish for a Celebration of Life dinner to be held at the church immediately following the graveside service.
