Lillie Brooks

PRINCETON - Lillie Mae Brooks, 76, of Princeton died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born May 3, 1937 at Bland, VA she was the daughter of the late Willard Massie and Viola Parsons Massie. Lillie Mae attended Ramsey Junior High School in Bluefield where she was a cheerleader and Bluefield High School. She enjoyed going to her Class of 1955 reunions and seeing her special friends. She was a charter member of Maple View Church of Christ in Bluefield since 1970 where she was very active in choir and other church activities. She lived next door to the church for many years. She was a homemaker and member of the Green Valley Women's Club and an active member of the community. Lillie Mae was a very loving and generous person to everyone she knew. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jamie Bourne. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Ronald Brooks; three daughters, Roxanne Bourne and husband Rick of Brushfork, Rhonda Sisk of Lebanon, VA and Robin Brooks of Princeton; three grandsons, Brandon Sisk and Chase Sisk both of Lebanon, VA and Jeremy Bourne and wife Christina of Bristol, TN; two sisters, Jean Lawrence and husband John of Bluefield, Marie Constantino and husband Tony of Bluefield; one sister-in-law, Linda Brooks of Richmond, VA; special aunt, Cora Steele of Princeton; special cousins, Ginger Shrewsbury, Debbie Burton and Pam King; several nieces and nephews whom she loved so much and a special friend, Alice Mathena. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at Maple View Church of Christ on Mercer Mall Road in Bluefield with long-time family friend, Rev. Tony Reed, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Lawrence, Buddy Gilpin, Tony Constantino, Rick Bourne, Brandon Sisk, Chase Sisk, Jeremy Bourne and Chester May. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Brooks' name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour on Friday, November 1 at Maple View Church of Christ.
