Pastor Larry Roberts

SANDLICK – Pastor Larry Boyd Roberts, 79, of Sandlick, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 3, 2023 at his home. Born June 24, 1943 in Beartown, he was the son of the late Boyd Roberts and Gertrude Bailey Roberts. Larry was a 1961 graduate of Herndon High School. He later attended Emmanuel College, which led him to obtain his calling to become an ordained minister. Throughout his life, he was employed by Rockwell International, Coca-Cola, People’s Life Insurance Co. and Lusk Disposal Service, until he went fulltime into the ministry. The church’s he ministered were Trinity Temple in Welch, Bluefield Pentecostal Holiness Church and Montcalm Pentecostal Holiness Church until the Lord took him home. On January 25, 1963 he married the love of his life, Judy Poore Roberts. Through their love, they built a family who loved him deeply. He was affectionately known to his great grandbabies as Paw. His passion in life was winning souls for the Lord Jesus Christ, which he did up until his last day. Anyone who knew Larry knew his love for beagles. He founded Snow Vista Beagles, where he enjoyed training them and listening to them run. From an early age he bled blue and gold for WVU football and basketball. They may have disappointed him many times, but he was always loyal to them. Larry’s memory will live on through all the lives he has touched over the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Roberts Bailey. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judy Poore Roberts; three children, Chris Roberts and wife Sheila, Michelle Hoston and husband A.J. and Robin Johnson and husband T.J. all of Sandlick; brother, Tommy Roberts of Sandlick; seven grandchildren, Andrea Bailey, Morgan Deel and husband Eric, Zachary Epperson, Seth Roberts and wife Brianna, Haley Elliott and husband Dakota, Zachary Johnson and Jack Johnson; and ten great grandchildren, Trell Hoston, Emberly Bailey, Brycen Elliott, Oliva Roberts, Garrett Deel, Kasen Bailey, Briar Epperson, Rylinn Roberts, Maicyn Roberts and Gannon Deel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Ron Fredericks, Rev. Dan Pruitt and Danny Bowles officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
