MATOAKA - Joseph Ora Jackson Poe, 79, of Matoaka went to Heaven on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born April 21, 1936 in Basin he was the son of the late Jessie Willard Poe, Sr. and Callie Leora Powers Poe. He retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan where he worked as an assembler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Poe and Jessie W. Poe, Jr.; two grandchildren, Rebecca M. Poe and Charles J. O’Neal; five brothers-in-law, Otis Akers, Sr., Lloyd Combs, Earl Washborn, Donald Sutphin and Melvin Graham and three sisters-in-law, Ollie Poe, Ollie Combs and Elsie Akers. Survivors include his wife, Raney Juanita Combs Poe; five children, Brenda Lee O’ Neal and husband Charles, Ricky Owen Poe, Kenneth Jackson Poe, Sr. and wife Lisa, Rebecca S. Ogle and husband Larry and Avery Allen Poe and wife Brenda Jo Poe; fourteen grandchildren, Haley S. Abshire, Kevin J. O’ Neal, Joseph W. McComas, Rachel J. McComas, Kayla L. McComas, Sylina R. White, Rebecca M. Poe, Charles J. O’ Neal, Amanda M. Turner, Kassie C. Poe, Kenneth J. Poe, II., Gregory Poe, Steven Brewer and Travis Brewer; thirty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and nine brothers and sisters, James H. Poe, Sr. and wife Wanita, Wayne Paul Poe, Sr. Wilma Graham, Audrey Gay Sutphin, Maxine Washborn, Audrey Eloise Nowlin and husband William (Billy), Mary Haroldson and husband James, Grace Hester and Paul W. Poe, Sr. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Kelly Lyle officiating. Interment will follow at the Poe Family Cemetery near Matoaka. Pallbearers will be Kevin O’ Neal, Joseph McComas, Kenneth Poe, II., Johnny Goad and Jessie Dale Sutphin.
