Janice Rose

PRINCETON – Rev. Janice Joyce Sims Rose, 80, of Mercer Springs Road, Princeton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her home, following a long hard battle with Alzheimer’s. Born September 22, 1930 at Pageton, she was the daughter of the late Robert Sims and Bessie Marie Young Sims. Janice was a minister with the Church of God since 1963, pastoring several churches in West Virginia. She was a member of Grace Temple in Princeton. She dedicated her life to God and her loved ones. Janice loved to write poetry and won an Award of Recognition honoring her as a Famous Poet for 1994-1996 by the Famous Poets Society of Anaheim, California. In her spare time she enjoyed her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ernest Faulkner Rose; two sons, James Ernest Rose and Brian Rose; one grandson, Stacy Lee Rose; one brother, Edward Sims; two sisters, Edith Clark and Jean Peters. Survivors include one daughter, Janet Jennings and her husband Sam of Princeton; five sons, Kenneth Rose of Flat Top Road and Randall Rose and his wife Claudia with whom she made her home, Gary Rose and his companion Dickie Whitten, Billy Rose and his wife Tina and David Rose and his wife Terri all of Princeton; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Rose Peterson of Pineville; one brother, Bobby Sims of Vinton, VA; two sisters, April Neal and her husband Raymond of Vinton, VA and Catherine Turnblom of Edgewater, FL; 21 grandchildren, Tony Rose, Chris Rose and his wife Tabitha, Arron Rose, Angela Johnson and her husband Ronnie, Heather Rose, Keith Taylor, Lyndsi Herring and her husband Rick, Sarah Jennings, Kelly Jennings, Ashley Snider and her husband Jamie, Jacob Jennings, Brent Rose, Billy Rose Jr., Angel Rose, Katie Rose, Ethan Rose, Kristen Rose, Shanna Phillips Addair, Jacqui Rose, Alexis Ratcliffe and Jordan Cales; and 15 great-grandchildren, Dylan Rose, Prestyn Rose, Matthew Meadows, Shiloh Rose, Kayla Wood, Victoria Rose, Alexis Foley, Keiana Kitts, Tanner Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Chase Herring, Ella Herring, Isaah Jennings, Alexis Addair and many extended family members. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Connie Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
