Eloise Myers

WINCHESTER, KY – Eunice Eloise Crotty Myers, 88, of Winchester, KY, formerly of Princeton, died Monday, October 11, 2010 in Winchester, KY. Born February 15, 1922 in Princeton, and a life-long resident there until recently, she was the eldest of nine children born to the late Opia Calfee Crotty and Vera Langford Crotty. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Princeton for more than 65 years, serving in many of its ministries, especially its missionary and outreach programs. She also taught children in Sunday School, Training Union, and Vacation Bible School for many years. Multi-talented, she loved to cook and bake, sharing with neighbors and friends the results of her creative efforts in the kitchen. She enjoyed gardening and took much joy in sitting in her yard contemplating nature and Nature’s Maker. She was a gifted seamstress and delighted in her ability to make her own clothes, clothes for her daughters as they were growing up, and even clothing for her husband. Her artistic nature found an outlet through landscape and still-life oil painting and in decorating special occasion cakes, including wedding cakes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William L. Myers; and four of her siblings. Left to mourn her passing are her three daughters, Valerie Jones and her husband Jack of Charlotte, NC, Deborah Snyder and her husband Samuel of Birmingham, AL and Barbara Myers of Winchester, KY; four grandchildren, Amy Caudill and her husband Tony, William Jeffrey and his wife Lindsey, Sarah Snyder and Kathleen Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Rachel, Elijah, Ezekiel and Audrey Caudill; four sisters, Dorothy Perry, Rose Barton and Elizabeth Crotty all of Newark, DE and Evelyn Fitzpatrick of Naperville, IL; several in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service to honor Eloise’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Princeton in the church’s main sanctuary with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eloise’s memory may be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Drive, Winchester, KY 40391 or to any of the mission offerings at First Baptist Church, 1116 Mercer Street, Princeton, WV 24740.
