David Walker

PRINCETON - David Hiram Walker, 73, of Princeton, was carried on angel wings to his Eternal home on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born December 13, 1947 in Beeson, he was the son of the late Ralph Walker and Elma Madeline Pennington Walker. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family God blessed him with was his life. He attended Stinson Methodist Church. He loved his church and church family. David enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, working with his cattle, hunting, fishing, and working on his farm. David served in the Marines from 1965-1968. He was in the Vietnam War in 1965-1966. While in the service he was awarded a Vietnam Service Metal, a Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge and the National Defense Service Metal. After serving his country he was a miner for 15 years, then with a friend started A&W Construction Company, and worked for Department of Transportation until retirement. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Shelby Ratliff and Shelia Campbell; and one step-sister, Johanna Cantrell. David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Marquita Eller Walker; two daughters, Kimberly (Kenneth) Johnson and Tonya "Missy" (Vince) Gerber; one son, David Walker Jr.; grandchildren, Danielle (Brandon) Croy, Joshua (Kathryn) Johnson, Nicholas and Samantha Farley, Matthew, Steven, and Katelyn Walker.; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Everett (Leona) Walker; sister, Drama Cecil; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Homer and Mildred Eller. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Carl Van Stavern and Pastor Ronald Booher officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Family will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
