Connie Shrewsbury

ROCK – Connie Shrewsbury, 79, of Rock, died Friday, December 22, 2023, at his home, with his children by his side. Born October 22, 1944 in Matoaka, he was the son of the late Oliver Martin Shrewsbury and Irene Graham Shrewsbury. Connie was retired from Consolidation Coal Company, having worked at Itmann, WV mine. Connie also owned his own business, S&H Small Engine Repair. Connie loved to be outside, cutting wood, riding his four-wheeler, and tinkering with old chainsaws. He loved his dog, Sheba, she was his good and faithful companion, and they were always together. Connie loved the Lord, and would often go to his woodshed to pray, or think about his sweetheart, Ellen, who he missed so much. Connie was a member of Rich Creek Baptist Church in Spanishburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ellen Shrewsbury; and two brother, Blaine Shrewsbury and Arnett Shrewsbury. Survivors include his four children, Earnie Shrewsbury and wife Melissa of Beeson, Darryl Shrewsbury and wife Lisa of Stafford, VA, Becky Porterfield and husband John of Princeton and Alvin Shrewsbury and wife Becky of Lerona; two sisters, Letha Smith and Abita Springs, LA and Carol Proffitt and husband Larry of Flat Top; one brother, Dean Shrewsbury and wife Paula of Conway, SC; eight grandchildren, Noelani Shrewsbury, E.J. Shrewsbury, Alyssa Clark and husband Corey, Shayla Miller and husband John, Jordan Shrewsbury and wife Trish, Ryan Shrewsbury and wife Charity, Devin Shrewsbury and Ariella Lowe; and seven great grandchildren, Aubrey, Canyon, Lance, Aiden, Layla, Claire and Caroline. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Jamie Mattox officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be E.J. Shrewsbury, Jordan Shrewsbury, Ryan Shrewsbury, Devin Shrewsbury, Corey Clark and John Miller. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
