Carol Ann Akers

PINOAK – Carol Ann Akers, 71, of Pinoak, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born September 24, 1944 at McComas, she was the daughter of the late Willie Graham and Garie Harman Graham. Carol was a member of Shawnee Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, and when able, enjoyed attending services and fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She especially enjoyed attending performances of gospel music, especially the Fortune Family. She loved flowers and took pleasure in growing a wide variety of flowers, her favorite being peonies. She loved collecting angels and now is our special angel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis Lee Graham and Larry Eugene Graham. Carol loved and was devoted to her family and will be missed by those remaining to cherish her memory, including her husband of 53 years, Samuel J. Akers, Sr. who she has provided care for 12 years after his disabling stroke; three daughters, Trish Cole and husband Everett of Beeson, Linda Bailey and husband Mark of Lashmeet and Teresa Bish and husband Bobby of Lashmeet; one son, Samuel J. “Jacky” Akers, Jr. of the home; grandchildren, Everett Cole, Jr., Justin Lowe, Joshua Lowe, Jeremy Lowe and Jonathan Bish; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Cole, Wyatt Cole, Jordyn Lowe and Alixx Lowe; two sisters, Ruth Hickman of Bluefield and Mary Ross and husband Dale of Pinoak; and two brothers, Roy Graham and wife Kerrie of Pinoak and David Graham and wife Dana of Spanishburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Shawnee Baptist Church at Kegley with the Rev. Chris Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, 1612 Honaker Ave., Princeton, WV 24740. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until service hour at the Shawnee Baptist Church.
