Aubrey "Sonny" Thomason

PRINCETON- Aubrey “Sonny” Alexander Thomason, 69, of Princeton, WV died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home. Born July 27, 1945 in Bluefield, WV he was the son of the late Willie Charles Thomason and Mildred Perdue Thomason. Sonny attended Lashmeet Freewill Baptist Church and loved his church family. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, OH for six years. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 33 years of service as a conductor and brakeman and was a member of the railroad retirement organization. Sonny loved fishing, hunting, cooking and visiting shut-ins. He never met a stranger and never turned anyone down if they needed help. Sonny traveled to Alaska several times to visit family and to go fishing. One of his greatest joys was spending quality time with all of his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, James Daniel Thomason. Sonny was the beloved husband, partner and friend for 32 years of Phyllis Dishner Lynch Thomason – “Sonny, you had me at ‘hello’ and I will love you eternally.” He was the proud Daddy of Aubrey “Sonny” Thomason, Jr. and wife Mae of Princeton, WV, Teresa Thomason Stowers and husband Randy of Bluefield, WV, Danny Lynch and wife Lori of Pipestem, WV, Regina Lynch Bartfai and husband Mark of Princeton, WV and Kevin Lynch and wife Angie of Glenwood, WV; he was the devoted Papaw of Tabitha Thomason Crouse and husband Josh, Amber Nicole Lynch, Kaleigh Lynch, Sydni Lynch, Tristan Kinney, Jacob Kinney, Daniel Kinney and Charlie Parker Kinney; he was the doting Great Papaw of Urijah Greyson Crouse. Additional survivors include his siblings, Gerald Thomason and wife Patty of Bluefield, WV, Richard Thomason and wife Barbara of Pfafftown, NC, Michael Thomason and wife Dolly of Lynchburg, VA, William Thomason and wife Theresa of Bluefield, WV, Stuart Thomason and wife Pina of Roanoke, VA, Betty Hager of Titusville, FL, Phyllis Jones of Sheffield Lake, OH, Lois Chandler of Cincinnati, OH, Nancy Wilkins of Colonial Heights, VA, Brenda Bailey and Tom Robertson of Princeton, WV, Benitta Scott and husband Ray of Bluefield, WV and Nichole Thomason of Soldatna, AK; several nieces and nephews and his former wife and mother of his two children, Patricia Gilmore Thomason of Montcalm, WV. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Jerry Heaton officiating and eulogy by Rod Hedrick. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
