Alan White

LASHMEET - Alan White, 58, of Lashmeet passed away May 31, 2013 at the University of Virginia Hospital surrounded by his loving family whom he cherished. He is now in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior where he suffers no more. Born June 4, 1954 in Bluefield he was the son of George White and the late Easter Walker White. Alan graduated from Matoaka High School in 1972 and received his Associates Degree in Mining Engineering from Bluefield State College in 1976. He began his career at the Turkey Gap mine and worked there until its closure in 1984 after which he transitioned to the WV Department of Highways where he worked as a Highway Construction Inspector until his illness forced him to retire until October 2009. Alan dedicated his life to Christ in 1982 and subsequently became a member of the Lashmeet Freewill Baptist Church where he was chosen as a deacon and then elected Assistant Pastor in July 2009. He served the Lord in the same church for 31 years, working with Pastor A.R. Dishner, also his father-in-law, who had a Godly impact on his life. He enjoyed serving the Lord more than anything; his greatest joy was knowing someone had accepted Christ into their heart. He cherished his family and loved spending time with them. Alan was preceded in death by his mother Easter Walker White; his maternal grandparents,Vessey and Zola Walker; his paternal grandparents, Sheridan and Alice White and one granddaughter, Mercy Anne Dickerson. Left to cherish his precious memory are his loving wife of 35 years, Tina Dishner White; one daughter, Jennifer Dickerson and her husband Scott of Fort Bragg, NC; two sons, Justin White and his wife Kala of Princeton and Joshua White of Princeton; four grandchildren, Madeline Dickerson, Gracelyn Dickerson, Eli Dickerson and Jaxson White; his father, George White; one sister, Paulette Phillips and her husband Eddie; two brothers, Phil White and his wife Jill and Mitchell White and his wife Stacy; one half-brother, Larry White and his wife Violet; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Dishner and Mark Dishner and his wife Robin; several nieces and nephews; a special father-in-law, A.R. Dishner; so many special friends and church family. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Reverend Harold Taylor and Pastor Larry Cecil officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pall bearers will be Gene Bowling, Pat McKinney, Joe Ray, Lester Coomes, Keith Wiley and Randy Carter.
