ISLAND CREEK - Junior Johnson Bailey, 84, of Island Creek died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at his home. Born April 2, 1927 at Lamar he was the son of the late Giles Johnson Bailey and Bertha Lusk Bailey.
He was a member of Rich Creek Primitive Baptist Church and was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Marines. He retired from Eastern Associated Coal Company in Herndon and was a member of U.M.W.A. He enjoyed farming and fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Jamey Jerome Bailey and infant Stacy Ray Bailey and three sisters, Ollie Harvey, Sylvia Bean and Gladys Bean.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carley Rae Hurst Bailey; three sons, Terry James Bailey and wife Beth Anne of Pipestem, Stephen Wayne Bailey and wife Mary A. of Summersville and Vance Bailey and wife Ree of Princeton; eight grandchildren, Alexander Bailey, Shannon Aliff, Aaron Bailey, Ashley Bailey, Jessica Bailey, Jared Bailey, Brandon Bailey and Caleb Bailey and seven great grandchildren, Lynzi Bailey, Nikki Bailey, Ava Bailey, Caroline Bailey, Carley Church, Gavin Church and Shiloh Bailey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Elder Lewis Lester and Elder Tony Pack officiating. Interment will follow at the Reed-Bailey Cemetery on the family farm at Island Creek. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
