BLUEFIELD – Opal Mae Smith, 81, of Bluefield, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at Princeton Community Hospital.  Born March 29, 1929 at Hiawatha, she was the daughter of the late Thurman Kesley Bailey and Mary E. Dowdy Bailey. 

Mrs. Smith moved to the area from Port Charlotte, Florida 10 years ago.  She attended Ceres Baptist Church in Green Valley and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oakey J. Smith; two sisters, Josephine Jones and Lucille B. Riley; and two brothers, Jack P. Bailey and James Howard Bailey.

Survivors include four sisters, Ramona Swan of Akron, OH, Norma Wyatt of Green Valley, Mary Kelly and her husband Jerry of Green Valley and Thelma Richert and her husband Gene of Lady Lake, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Ronnie Kennett officiating. 

Entombment will take place at the Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, FL at a later date.
