LASHMEET – Norma Faye Delp Dishner, 79, of Lashmeet, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at her home with her loving family surrounding her, ending her long and courageous battle with Alzheimer. She is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior where she suffers no more. Born July 3, 1931 at Solphia, she was the daughter of the late Kyle Delp and Pauline Archer Delp.
Norma graduated from Sophia High School in 1949. Norma was a dedicated Christian standing faithfully by her husband’s side as he pastored Lashmeet Freewill Baptist Church for 32 years. She served as Sunday School teacher and church treasurer for many years. She worked at Maidenform for several years until she began a career as Kindergarten aide for the Mercer County School System until her retirement. She adored all the children she came in contact with and they loved her. Words cannot describe the compassion and kindness she showed to everyone she met, willing to help anyone in need. Her family and church family were her life. She always had a radiant smile and positive attitude.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Nelma Kiblinger; and two brothers, J.D. Delp and Alvin Delp.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving husband of 60 years, A.R. (Jill) Dishner; two sons, Anthony Dishner of Lashmeet and Mark Dishner and his wife Robin of Greensboro, NC; one daughter, Tina White and her husband Alan of Lashmeet; seven grandchildren, Brandon Dishner, Jennifer Dickerson, Justin White, Joshua White, Lindsey Dishner, Lexie Dishner and Tyler Dishner; four great-grandchildren, Maddie Dickerson, Grace Dickerson, Anaston Dishner and Creston Dishner; two sisters, Opal Smith and Judy Gillespie; one brother, Jackie Delp; and her very special caregiver, Aleta Cecil.
