MATOAKA – Murl Bernard (Boone) Tucker, Sr., 76, of Matoaka, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family whom he loved and adored and whom loved and adored him. Born August 16, 1934 at Goodwill, he was the son of the late James Edward Tucker and Callie Mae Taylor Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was of the Pentecostal faith. He worked at Brach Candy Company and Douglas Furniture Company in Chicago, IL. He was retired from Eastern Association Coal Company at Herndon and was a member of U.M.W.A. Local 9781. He enjoyed hunting, watching Nascar and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Freddie Wayne Perdue, Jr. (Boss Hogg); one great-grandson, Larry Thomas, Jr. (Little L); two brothers, Brucie Tucker and Johnny Tucker; and two sisters, Mabel Gnew and Thelma Beasley.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Idena Tucker of the home; three daughters, Karen (Toodle) Pacitto and her husband Danny and Peggy Goins and her husband Ronald all of Matoaka and Patricia (Pat) Perdue and her husband Freddie of North Myrtle Beach, SC; his only son, Murl Bernard (Burny) Tucker, Jr. and his wife Julie of High Point, NC; five grandchildren, Michelle Thomas and her husband Larry, Misty Meadows and her husband Keith, Danny (Pee Wee) Pacitto, Ronald (Junior) Goins, Jr. and Karen Lynn Pacitto; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Faith) Thomas, Ashlie Thomas and Kaleb Meadows; and two sisters, Lucille Tilley of Lashmeet and Rosie Taylor of Sandlick.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Keith Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family will serve as pallbearers.
