Obituaries

MATOAKA – Delmas Trent, Sr., 63, of Mary’s Branch, Matoaka, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at his home.  Born August 24, 1947 at Gilbert, he was the son of the late Frank Trent and Josie Huff Trent.

Mr. Trent was a retired tractor trailer driver for W.L.A. Trucking.  He also drove a coal truck for many years and worked at Radford Arsenal in Radford, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Alissa Trent; one son, Charles F. Trent; two sisters, Thelma Sandigee and Leona Christian; and one brother, George Trent.

Survivors include his wife, Shellie Lester Trent of the home; three sons, Delmas Trent, Jr. of Mary Branch, Matoaka, Dale Gene Trent of Monroe County and Barley D. Trent of Monroe County; one daughter, Josie Anderson of Lindside; one step-son, Dean Efferson and his wife Kathy of Windmill Gap; two sisters, Alma Porter of Wyoming County and Elvie Vaye Trent of Georgia; and one brother, Carlos Trent of Starke, FL.

The body has been cremated.  Burial will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Trent Family Cemetery near Hinton where Dean Efferson will speak.
