PRINCETON – Denver B. “D.B.” Echols, Jr., 83, of Princeton, died Friday, July 1, 2011.  Born March 25, 1928 at Rock, he was the son of the late Denver Bennett Echols, Sr. and Mary Ethel Shrewsbury Echols.

 

Mr. Echols was a member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church in Glenwood.  He was in retail business most of his life and was manager of Cheds in Princeton for many years.  He retired from the WV Dept. of Highways in Princeton.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  In previous years his hobby was CB radio and was known as “Bossman.”

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Lee Maxine Bailey Echols in 2000; one brother, Robert Echols; and three sisters, Lula Mae Lacy, Faye E. Bailey and Mary Brown.

 

Survivors include three daughters, Jannell Hill and her husband Floyd of Romney, Melva Allen and her husband Barry of Princeton and Kimberly Otey and her husband Timothy of Roanoke, VA; and one sister, Sue Mackey of Princeton; six grandchildren, Michelle Hill of Kernersville, NC, Dustin Allen of Princeton, Shannon Wean of Stephens City, VA, Stacy Sheets of Princeton, Montana Otey of Roanoke, VA and Nathan Otey of Roanoke, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Belcher of Kernersville, NC and Hayden Wean of Stephens City, VA.

 

A memorial service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Revs. Eddie Dodson and Ken Price officiating.  The body has been cremated.  Burial will be Roselawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Carr Memorial United Methodist Church, 1544 Glenwood Park Rd., Princeton, WV 24740.

 

Friends may call Sunday, July 3, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
